Positions of service for Becker Township

• Township Supervisor
  Township Supervisors are elected by township residents.  Elections are held yearly, with supervisors serving rotating, three-year terms.  To qualify for the election process, eligible supervisor candidates must:
  • reside in the township
  • be available for monthly town meetings
  • have reached the age of 21
• Planning Commission Members are appointed by the Town Board.  Planning Commission members have the same requirements as Town Supervisors.  Planning Commission members are appointed to serve three year rotating terms.  Appointments take place in November of each year. 
• Joint Planning Board Members are appointed by the Town Board.  The Joint Planning Board operates as a joint venture with Becker City.  The township maintains three seats on this board.  The city maintains two seats.  Joint Planning Board members are appointed to serve three-year, rotating terms.  Appointments take place in November of each year.

What Does a Township Supervisor Actually Do?

During the first part of January each year, affidavits of candidacy are accepted by the Town Clerk for anyone wishing to run for office.  If you are interested in running, see the MN Secretary of State website for a form/information or chat with the Town Clerk.
