Prescription and Over the Counter Drug Disposal
County residents may drop off any over-the-counter drugs and prescription drugs at a collection bin located in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office (Door G) at the Government Center. The collection bin will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This program is anonymous and confidential. When you drop off your medications, please remove any personal information but leave the drug name on the container. The drop box is for drugs in pill form ONLY. Please do not place liquids, needles (Sharps), inhalers, or ointments in the drop box. If you have any of these items, please contact your pharmacy or clinic to learn about how to properly dispose of them.
The Sheriff’s Office then properly disposes of the collected drugs so that they stay out of our landfills and water treatment facilities. This drop box is for private citizens. The Sheriff’s Office is not able to dispose of medications for healthcare facilities.
